App developed for the 2024 Nasa Space Apps Hackathon

When we talk about access democracy, we often fall into the idea that simply providing access makes something democratic, but that’s not always the case. Once access is given, it’s also necessary to ensure that the information is truly understood. Science tends to be complicated, but it doesn’t always have to be that way. Understanding the needs of young beginner scientists or people outside the field with little knowledge, our team decided to create a tool that not only facilitates access to space experiment data but also makes understanding that data easier.

Thus, Expgen was born, a tool that programmatically plots NASA data through correlated filters. Combined with our team of scientists who curate and translate this information into a more accessible language, our application not only displays results but also explains how they were discovered and what they mean, while offering insights into potential future uses. This makes the information comprehensible to people with limited knowledge of the subject and increases the potential for scientists or engaged individuals to use this data.
